To edit, copy or delete a segment, choose Manage Segments from the drop-down and you’ll be taken to the segment list.

You can then click on the three dots at the very right hand side of the segment and choose either edit, copy or delete as required.

When editing segments, you can also preview the segment to check that your rules are pulling in the correct pages. Once you’ve set the rules for your segment, just click on the ‘Preview Segment’ button in the bottom left corner to see a sample of up to 50 URLs from the latest crawl that will be matched to the segment in future crawls.

Copying Segments to Other Projects

If you have multiple projects set up for the same website, you can copy segments from one project into one or more other projects.

Copying segments requires the Editor role or above. Reporter and Viewer users can see segments but cannot create or copy them.

From the segment list, check the box of the segments you want to copy, then click ‘Bulk copy into projects’ at the top right of the list.

In the Project field, start typing to find the projects you want. Each project shows its domain, its last finished crawl, and how many segments it currently holds out of the maximum of 100. Select projects individually, or use ‘Select all matching projects’ to select everything returned by your search.

You can adjust each segment before copying it. The segment name, segment group and segment rules are all editable in this dialog, so you can copy a segment and change it for the projects you are copying into without editing the original.

If you select more than one segment, the dialog numbers each one and gives it its own name, group and rules, so you can adjust each segment independently before the copy runs.

The summary at the bottom of the dialog confirms what will be created, for example ‘Will create 2 segments in 6 of 6 selected’. Projects that have reached the 100 segment limit cannot receive more and are not included in the count. If you need to copy into one of these projects, delete any segments that are no longer in use first, then run the copy again.

Click ‘Create Segments’ to run the copy.

Copied segments are independent. A segment copied into another project has no connection to the original: editing the original later does not update the copies, and editing a copy does not affect the original.
