What is Google Search Console
Google Search Console is a no-charge web service by Google for webmasters, which helps them troubleshoot problems with their website. It also allows SEOs and site owners to:
- Check the crawling and indexing status of a website
- Use the Performance report to understand the organic search visibility
- Monitor the mobile-friendliness of a website and so much more!
Google does have a public API for Search Console. At the moment Lumar only uses organic search analytics data from the API in our integration.
How To Set Up Google Analytics in Lumar
1. Navigate to the Connected Apps page by clicking the user options in the top right of the screen and choosing ‘Connected apps’. NOTE: You can also click 'Add Google Account' in step 2 of the crawl setup to go through this process.
2. Click on the ‘+ Add account’ button.
3. Login to your Google Account which has the Google Search Console profiles you want to include.
4. In the Connected Apps page, you can also manage which Google Accounts are connected in Lumar.
5. Once a Google account is connected, navigate to the Sources settings in the project you want to include GSC data in and select the Google Search Console source (a purple tick will appear when selected). You'll see the available GSC views on the left-hand side, and use the checkbox on the left-hand side to select the view you need, which will then move to the right.
6. If you have a few options available in your GSC account, you can also use the down arrow to configure the GSC filters. NOTE: It's worth paying particular attention to the date range. The wider the date range, the more data needs to be collected and processed, which will impact crawling time. You may, therefore, want to start with a smaller time period for initial crawls.
7. Once you've selected the view you need, you can save the crawl settings, and GSC data will be connected when the crawl runs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lumar connect to Bing, Yandex, or Baidu Search Console/Webmaster tools?
No, we only support Google Search Console at this time.
Is it possible to add multiple Google Accounts to Lumar?
Yes, Lumar allows multiple Google Accounts to be added. Also, any profiles in Google Console will be consolidated into one list in the Sources settings.
For example all the Google Search Console profiles under seo@gmail.com and marketing@gmail.com would be consolidated into one list in the Analytics Source settings in a project set up.
